Below you will find the courses that I completed as part of the MAET Program
Spring 2013
CEP 810: Teaching Technology with Understanding
Instructors: Melissa White and Leigh Graves Wolf As as my first course in the MAET program I set goals for what I wanted to get out of the program. I learned a great deal about organization, workflow technique, and how to use technology to enhance one's efficiency as an educator and in everyday life. I also learned about strategies for teaching to diverse range of learners using the NET-S standards. A very beneficial part of the course was creating professional learning networks. Creating a well designed and balanced personal learning network for student is a valuable skill that I used daily in my instruction. This course laid the framework for my future studies in the MAET program. |
CEP 811: Applying Innovative Technology to Education
Instructors: Susan Wright and Leigh Graves Wolf During this course I learned a great deal about lesson design. One of the important lessons from this course was using Intention Design when creating lesson plans. This was really helpful and made me rethink the way I plan and execute my lessons with the end goal always in the forefront. During this course I also learned a great deal about Stand Alone Instructional Resources. This was a fantastic discovery as I learned how to create resources that would differentiate and reteach content to students. I also learned to use the TPACK framework to evaluate my own lessons and improve upon their design. |
Spring 2014
CEP 812: Applying Educational Technology to Practice
Instructors: William Marsland and Michelle Hagerman The foundation of this course was using technology to solve society's wicked problems. Moving away from traditional skill and drill lesson design and focusing on creating students that are problem solvers. I learned about the importance of inspiring student passions and curiosity in my lesson design. I also learned a great deal about turning failure into an opportunity for students to learn. Failure must be seen as a step along the path of learning that is natural and acceptable. This course was very inspiring to me and reinforced my goals as an educator to reinforce critical thinking in my students. |
TE 846: Accommodating Differences in Literacy Learners
Instructor: Lynne Watanabe As a result of this course I deepened my understanding of developmental processes in student learning. I learned about the practices of the response to intervention framework. This was a great insight for me. It was very beneficial to learn about the ways the general education classrooms can better accommodate students with learning and reading disabilities. By going through this process I am better prepared to identify struggling students and accommodate them in my lesson planning. It has also prepared me to have professional dialogues with colleagues in resource rooms and special education classroom to enhance student achievement. |
Spring 2015
CEP 800: Learning in School and Other Settings
Instructors: Sarah Keenan, Diana Campbell, and Danah Henriksen As an instructor one is always looking for ways to create powerful learning experiences for students. As part of this course I explored ways to create powerful learning experiences for my students. One way that I did this was by identifying a common misconception that students struggle with in my classroom and creating a video the addressed and resolved the misconception. I also learned about other powerful learning tools and created a Pecha Kucha to demonstrate my proficiency in creating powerful learning tools for my classroom. |
Spring 2016
CEP 815: Technology and Leadership
Instructors: Dr. Aman Yadav, Benjamin Gleason, and Missy Cosby Leadership is an important part of any individual's development. During CEP 815 I learned about what being a leader in an educational environment means and how to take on that role and develop that skill. I also learned about how crucial a clear vision is to the success of any leader. As part of this course I developed my own vision for technology and how as a leader I will implement and carry out my vision. I also identified several obstacles such as instrumental thinking and how I plan to overcome them with goal oriented focus on student learning. |
CEP 820: Teaching Students Online
Instructor: Anne Heintz and Elizabeth Boltz Creating a digital classroom space poses many obstacles. In CEP 820 I learned to create a productive and efficient digital classroom space. When creating this space I learned a great deal about the SAMR Model and principles of the TPACK framework. I reflected upon designing lessons to enhance student learning with technology and how to grow along the SAMR Model and achieve the balance of technological pedagogical content knowledge. I created a course shell using these principles and have applied these design principles to my current classroom and instruction. |
Summer 2016
CEP 822: Approaches to Educational Research
Instructors: Yining Zhang and Ming Lei During this course I plan to learn about the methods used in educational research. I will learn to examine issues in education and how to use data to point to solutions or justification for changes in educational strategies. I will learn to conduct my own research on educational topics of interest to myself as well as be able to critique the research of others. At the end of CEP 822 I will be able to use data to justify my educational practices and analyze the practices that others are using. |
CEP 807: Capstone Educational Technology
Instructors: Dr. Matthew Koehler, Brittany Dillman, Spencer Greenhalgh, and Sarah Keenan During CEP 807 I reflected upon my growth and achievements during my studies in the MAET program. I closely examined where I started and have developed a plan for continuing my education after the completion of the MAET program. As part of this course I have created a digital portfolio that demonstrates the skills and evolution of my practice of using technology to enhance student learning. This course has made me reflect a great deal on what I have learned during the MAET program as well as enhanced my understanding of web page design. |
Fall 2016
CEP 818: Creativity in Teaching and Learning
Instructor: Dr. Punya Mishra Being a creative teacher is very helpful in being an effective educator. As a creating teacher one must inspire creativity in one's students learning. After taking CEP 818 I want to be able to be a more creative instructor in the ways I design my courses and instruction. I would like this creativity to be reflected in my students learning. By the end of this course I would like to be able to demonstrate these new skill and my proficiency in them. |
